Hunt Helps Bring 302 New Affordable Rentals to Island Families as $168-Million Nāulu Tower Nears Completion This Summer

June 25, 2025

Nāulu Tower, formerly known as Halawa View II, will soon provide homes for 302 low-income families. This $168 million affordable high-rise is located across from Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial.

Developed by Pacific Development Group in partnership with Hunt Companies Hawai'i and Hunt Capital Partners, the project will offer 302 rental apartments for families earning up to 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI). Monthly rents will range from $637 to $2,178, with options including studios, as well as one-, two- and three-bedroom units. Due to high demand, an electronic lottery was held in April to determine applicant placement on the list.

Nāulu Tower is a result of an extensive public-private partnership between the State of Hawai'i, the City and County of Honolulu and the project team.

"This project represents more than just a housing development, it is a testament to our unwavering commitment to tackling Honolulu's severe housing crisis, where families face housing costs that are 214% above the national average," said Dana Mayo, executive managing director of Hunt Capital Partners. "With 302 affordable homes strategically located by Honolulu's new rail line, we are providing high-quality housing options for families struggling to afford the high cost of living in Hawai'i, while offering convenient access to navigate throughout the surrounding neighborhoods of O'ahu."

Nāulu Tower also features a recently completed 25-story mural, breaking records as the tallest hand-painted mural in Hawai'i. The subject of the artwork is an 'iwa bird—a Hawaiian seabird—that has historically been used by the Hawaiian people as a sign of life, safety and navigation when out at water, signaling that calm waters are ahead for families who may be going through turbulent times.
