Hunt Military Communities Invests $27 Million With Current Projects to Improve Navy Homes on O‘ahu, Increase Water and Electric Efficiency

December 17, 2025

Hunt Military Communities is investing $27 million in current projects to upgrade Navy homes on O‘ahu and enhance water and electric efficiency.

This investment is part of a broader $35 million commitment to Hawai‘i projects in 2025. Of the total, more than $11 million will go toward replacing 549 roofs in the Pearl City Peninsula and Hokulani neighborhoods by fall 2026.
The roofing project — being completed with local contractor Protech Roofing — is a key element of Hunt Military Communities’ ongoing recapitalization strategy to provide highquality housing for service members and their families.

In addition to structural improvements, two major projects aim to increase efficiency for both water and electric utilities.

Nearly $13 million is being invested to update nearly 1,900 homes across seven Navy neighborhoods with high-efficiency hybrid heat-pump water heaters, replacing existing solar-water heating systems. This effort, in partnership with Advance Plumbing, is expected to finish by summer 2026.

A separate $3 million project will replace about 1,300 water meters across five neighborhoods, a step expected to decrease water consumption and support ongoing conservation efforts. Goodfellow Bros. is slated to complete this initiative by late 2026.

These upgrades align with Hunt Military Communities’ mission to create more sustainable housing. Improving water-use efficiency not only helps reduce costs, but also allows for reinvestment into resident amenities, supporting a higher quality of life for Navy families.
