With some 70 employees in Hawai‘i, Moss is a significant member of the local construction industry – and it feels a responsibility to give back by nurturing the next generation of builders.
Moss recently introduced 50 engineering students from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa to career opportunities in the construction field. The freshmen were drawn from Jill Nakatsu and Kelli Ching’s Engineering 100 seminars.
Fittingly, Moss was represented by employees and subcontractor partners who worked on the Walter Dods Jr. RISE Center, the $70 million innovation center and housing community developed by Hunt Development Group Hawai‘i and built by Moss across from the UH Mānoa campus.
Moss employees who participated in the seminar included Daniel Shin, Preconstruction Manager, and Shane Matayoshi, Assistant Project Manager, who were instrumental in completing RISE in- time to move students into their rooms. They were joined by Andrew Bui of Alaka‘i Mechanical, Brandon Tsuha of Wasa Electric and Aaron Kent of Jayar Construction.
Moss thanks Krystal Lee, Program Manager at the Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship (PACE), for providing gathering space in RISE for the seminar.
