In May, Hunt Companies Hawai‘i took home two Awards of Excellence from the NAIOP Hawai‘i 27th Annual Kukulu Hale program, which recognizes excellence in commercial real estate.
‘Āhuimanu, the neighborhood center on the North Shore of Kaua‘i, was recognized as the top New Project – Commercial/Other 40,000 Square-Feet or Less. Hunt served as the project developer and was supported by two Kaua‘i-based companies: general contractor Shioi Construction, Inc. and lead design firm Steve W.G. Au & Associates, along with project architect Uchiyama Erskine Architects.
Judges commented that ‘Āhuimanu “offers a much- needed community hub to remote residents. By incorporating a market, it provides essential goods and services. The creation of the permanent jobs injects vitality into the area fostering economic stability and offering suitable employment opportunities for residents.”
The Walter Dods, Jr. RISE Center – the $70 million live-learn-work entrepreneurship-and-innovation ecosystem – took the Public/Government Project Award. Hunt was assisted by lead design firm Design Partners, Inc. and general contractor Moss.
The judges agreed that RISE Center “provided UH students a unique opportunity to nurture innovators and entrepreneurs while strengthening the economy. It provided much needed housing to the UH student community and found success in opening at 98% capacity. The RISE Center has become a model on which many future projects will based in the UH Mānoa future.”
NAIOP Hawai‘i is the local chapter of the country’s leading organization for developers, owners and investors of office, industrial, retail and mixed-use real estate.
Congratulations to the entire Hunt Companies Hawai‘i team!
